Ian studied visual art at the South Australian School of Art
from 1070 to 1974. In 1975 Ian was awarded an Australia Council
Living Artist fellowship for one year.
The following year he spent twelve months as Artist in Residence
at Griffith University in Brisbane where, among other things he
discovered the amazing Bowerbirds.
In 1978 Ian was awarded a grant to study the art of the Golden
Bowerbird in North Queensland.
After far too long in arts administration Ian is now working
full time on his art, which from this point on will involve
further research into bowerbird behaviour and mucking about with
my own ‘bowers’.
"The underlying thesis to all my work is…
Time Allows the Elaboration of Basic Urges and/or Forms."
Ian is a popular tutor with Burnside Painting
Group for his ability to encourage his students to break out and
experiment. |
