Growing up on Kangaroo Island Annalise Rees spent time travelling and working around Australia and overseas before commencing her formal arts training in 2000. Graduating in 2004, Annalise completed a Bachelor of Visual Art with Honours, majoring in sculpture from the Adelaide Central School of Art. In 2004 she received the Adelaide City Council Award, the Duckpond South Australian Living Artist Award and the Mancorp Critics Choice Award. In 2005 Annalise was the recipient of the Adelaide Bank Award for the most outstanding arts graduate in South Australia. In October 2005 she was selected as part of a group of 10 South Australian artists to go to Sanskriti Kendra, India on an international artist residency cultural exchange. In the latter part of 2006 Annalise undertook a residency at Hill End in New South Wales and in early 2007 a residency In Darwin. In July 2007 she commences a job in Sydney running Art programmes for the City of Sydney. Annalise has exhibited frequently in South Australia including the Helpmann Academy Graduates Show in 2004 and 2005, and also interstate at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Art as part of the “Hatched” National Graduates Exhibition. She is a founding member of Ripple Artist Studios Inc. established at Port Adelaide. |
